Aesthetic Movement Stick & Ball Art Nouveau Plant Stand, Flower Table, ca. 1900

A beautiful Art Nouveau / Jugendstil "stick and ball" plant stand, jardiniere or flower bench table with a touch of the Anglo-Japanese style, dating from around 1900 and handcrafted in Vienna, Austria. An elegant and practical piece that reflects the philosophy of the Aesthetic Movement. Made of birch with fine details such as the characteristic turned spindle work, an open lattice of rods with ball finials, finely reeded corner posts and diagonal cross braces. The deep galleried tray holds several plant pots and also works as a narrow console for books or objects in a hallway or by a window. In good original condition with a lovely patina.
