Werkstätte Carl Auböck
Werkstätte Carl Auböck
Werkstätte Carl Auböck is a multigenerational Viennese design workshop. Karl Heinrich Auböck, also known as Carl Auböck I (1872–1925), established the family metal workshop and became known for finely crafted bronze objects. Carl Auböck II (1900–1957) continued the workshop and introduced modernist ideas informed by his studies at the Bauhaus, while Carl Auböck III (1924–1993), an architect and industrial designer, expanded its design vocabulary and international orientation. Across these generations, the workshop developed a distinctive body of functional objects characterized by precise craftsmanship, inventive use of materials and understated wit.

A lovely pair of minimalist, almost sculptural Mid-Century Modern salt and pepper shakers from the 1950s. The drop-shaped shakers are made of light and dark cow horn tips, and the cylindrical holder is made of walnut – both materials typical of Carl Auböck. In excellent original condition. These shakers are a joy to look at and a pleasure to hold in your hand. They are our personal favorites among the many great designs of the Aubock family. Height 4", diameter 2.5".
