Werkstätte Carl Auböck

Werkstätte Carl Auböck is a multigenerational Viennese design workshop. Karl Heinrich Auböck, also known as Carl Auböck I (1872–1925), established the family metal workshop and became known for finely crafted bronze objects. Carl Auböck II (1900–1957) continued the workshop and introduced modernist ideas informed by his studies at the Bauhaus, while Carl Auböck III (1924–1993), an architect and industrial designer, expanded its design vocabulary and international orientation. Across these generations, the workshop developed a distinctive body of functional objects characterized by precise craftsmanship, inventive use of materials and understated wit.

Amboss Austria was a Viennese manufacturer of modernist stainless-steel flatware and table objects. The company became especially known during the 1950s and 1960s for sculptural cutlery designs that combined functionality with restrained Austrian modernism. Important series include Helmut Alder’s model 2050 and the Maestro model 2060 by Carl Auböck.
