Werkstätte Carl Auböck
Werkstätte Carl Auböck
Werkstätte Carl Auböck is a multigenerational Viennese design workshop. Karl Heinrich Auböck, also known as Carl Auböck I (1872–1925), established the family metal workshop and became known for finely crafted bronze objects. Carl Auböck II (1900–1957) continued the workshop and introduced modernist ideas informed by his studies at the Bauhaus, while Carl Auböck III (1924–1993), an architect and industrial designer, expanded its design vocabulary and international orientation. Across these generations, the workshop developed a distinctive body of functional objects characterized by precise craftsmanship, inventive use of materials and understated wit.

A set of two small forks with a leather holster, designed by Carl Auböck and executed by Werkstätte Carl Auböck, Vienna. Originally conceived in the 1930s, this model represents one of Auböck's early designs.; we think the present set was manufactured in the 1950s. Originally designed as corn cob skewers or holders—a wonderfully practical idea—these small forks can also be used in a variety of ways at the dining table, for example for serving fruit, cheese, and other small delicacies. The forks are crafted from solid brass with a nickel-plated finish and feature handles, made of cow horn. The set is housed in its original saddle-stitched leather holster, executed in black leather. Very good condition, with normal signs of wear. Measurements: width: 4.25“, height 3“, the forks are 3“ long. We offer another pair of forks in our other listings.
