Werkstätte Carl Auböck is a multigenerational Viennese design workshop. Karl Heinrich Auböck, also known as Carl Auböck I (1872–1925), established the family metal workshop and became known for finely crafted bronze objects. Carl Auböck II (1900–1957) continued the workshop and introduced modernist ideas informed by his studies at the Bauhaus, while Carl Auböck III (1924–1993), an architect and industrial designer, expanded its design vocabulary and international orientation. Across these generations, the workshop developed a distinctive body of functional objects characterized by precise craftsmanship, inventive use of materials and understated wit.

A beautiful bottle opener made of solid silver-plated brass, designed and executed by Carl Auböck II in the 1950s. The facsimile 2 Florin coin, dated 1881, features a portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I and the double-headed eagle of the Austro-Hungarian Habsburg Monarchy. Marked “Made in Austria.” In very good original condition with a beautiful patina; the silver plating is still shiny. Equally appealing to Carl Auböck enthusiasts and collectors of Austro-Hungarian Monarchy memorabilia.
