E. R. Nele, born Eva Renée Nele Bode in 1932, is a German sculptor, metal artist, goldsmith and designer. Trained in Berlin, London and Paris, she worked across sculpture, jewelry, furniture and lighting. For the Swiss branch of Temde, she developed numerous modern lamps characterized by clear contours, adaptable construction and a sculptural approach to metal, glass and light.
Temde was a German-Swiss lighting manufacturer founded by Fritz Müller in Detmold in 1911, with a later branch in Sevelen, Switzerland. The company produced modern domestic lighting in wood, metal, glass and plastic and collaborated with designers including E. R. Nele. Temde lamps are recognized for functional construction, clear contours and the material experimentation of postwar European lighting design.

A stylish and chic 1960s Space Age Atomic “Sputnik” chandelier /multi-globe pendant lamp from the “Figuration” series, designed by Eva Renée Nele and manufactured by Temde, Switzerland, circa 1960s.The lamp features chrome-plated hardware with a tulip-shaped canopy, and nine hand-blown glass globe shades in smoked grey clear glass, each with tiny air bubbles. The globes are arranged in a grape-like / pyramid formation, creating a striking sculptural silhouette. Very good condition. In the style of Max Bill. height 21“, diameter 19“.
