Berndorfer Metallwarenfabrik was founded in Berndorf, Lower Austria, in 1843 and became an important manufacturer of cutlery, tableware and decorative metal objects. Closely associated with the Krupp family, the factory combined industrial production with sophisticated design and supplied private households as well as hotels, railways and shipping companies. Its historic metalware is recognized by precise workmanship and the characteristic Berndorf bear mark.
