Max Kment (1920–2011) was an Austrian designer active in Vienna during the postwar period. Through his Kunstgewerbliche Werkstätte, he created furniture and lighting with clear lines and carefully crafted combinations of wood, glass, woven cord and cane. His tables and lamps represent a distinctive Austrian interpretation of Mid-Century Modern design.
The Kunstgewerbliche Werkstätte Max Kment was a Viennese design workshop established by Austrian designer Max Kment in the postwar period. It created furniture and lighting distinguished by clear construction and carefully finished natural materials. Kment’s characteristic designs combine wood, glass, woven cord and cane in a restrained Austrian interpretation of Mid-Century Modern design.

A highly-recommended Japan-inspired organic Austrian modernist table. An elegant piece, to be used as a side / coffee / end or occasional table. Also usable as a flower bench or stand. Designed in 1955 by Austrian architect Max Kment, manufactured by his Kunstgewerbliche Werkstatte in Vienna. Made of maple tree wood, with four tapered conical legs. Partly wrapped with braided wicker cord / rope, the table has a clear glass desktop with rounded corners. In good condition with age-related signs of age.
