Werkstätte Carl Auböck is a multigenerational Viennese design workshop. Karl Heinrich Auböck, also known as Carl Auböck I (1872–1925), established the family metal workshop and became known for finely crafted bronze objects. Carl Auböck II (1900–1957) continued the workshop and introduced modernist ideas informed by his studies at the Bauhaus, while Carl Auböck III (1924–1993), an architect and industrial designer, expanded its design vocabulary and international orientation. Across these generations, the workshop developed a distinctive body of functional objects characterized by precise craftsmanship, inventive use of materials and understated wit.

A pair of minimalist sculptural book ends. Model „Rocket“ number 3847, handmade of solid polished and partly patinated brass. Designed by Werkstätte Carl Auböck in the 1950s. Fully stamped and marked. 5 x 3 x 2 1/3“. These are handcrafted pieces, each piece and finish will differ slightly. Small surface nicks are a natural result of the handmade craftsmanship and should be embraced as part of the piece’s unique character rather than viewed as defects.
