Werkstätte Carl Auböck

Werkstätte Carl Auböck is a multigenerational Viennese design workshop. Karl Heinrich Auböck, also known as Carl Auböck I (1872–1925), established the family metal workshop and became known for finely crafted bronze objects. Carl Auböck II (1900–1957) continued the workshop and introduced modernist ideas informed by his studies at the Bauhaus, while Carl Auböck III (1924–1993), an architect and industrial designer, expanded its design vocabulary and international orientation. Across these generations, the workshop developed a distinctive body of functional objects characterized by precise craftsmanship, inventive use of materials and understated wit.

Austrian The Rupert Nikoll lighting company’s biggest claim to glory came from producing work by the skilled Austrian jeweler and lighting designer Emil Stejnar. He designed several lighting and mirror pieces for the Austrian company. Stejnar had a penchant for symmetrical, rounded forms, often emulating starbursts or floral blossoms in his designs. Very little information is recorded about the Rupert Nikoll lighting company or its namesake.
